Ten Tips For Reducing Fat In The Diet

First. Steam, boil, fry, or microwave vegetables, or fry in a small amount of vegetable oil.

Second. Season vegetables with herbs and spices rather than sauces, butter or margarine.

Third. Try lemon juice or fat-free dressing over salad, or use a yogurt based dressing instead of mayonnaise or sour cream dressing.

4th. To reduce saturated fat, use vegetable oil or margarine instead of butter or margarine, if possible.

5th. Replace whole milk with skim milk or low fat milk in puddings, soups and pastries. Replace fat-free yogurt, whipped cream blender-fat cheese hut, sour cream or buttermilk in recipes that call for sour cream.

6th. Choose lean meat and trim all visible fat from meat before and after cooking. Remove the skin of poultry before or after cooking. Control your portion sizes.(End of lean meat in the "Back".)

7th. Frying, baking or grilling chicken or fish, so that the fat cook as food is drained.

8th. Use a nonstick pan for cooking so added fat is not required, use a vegetable spray for frying.

9th. Cool down the broth of meat or poultry until the fat is solid. Pour the fat before using the broth.

10th. Eat low-fat vegetarian at least once a week.
